No Starch Press hired me to do a layout template for upcoming volumes of their series, “The LEGO Adventure Book.” The goal was a clean, minimalist design that conformed to their pre-existing branding and aesthetic considerations. Flow lines, crisp typography and balanced use of whitespace were the guiding principles. I’m happy with the final product, despite having to make several compromises along the way. At the end of the day, a freelance designer’s job is to accomplish the goals of the client.
